Essential Tools for Beginners
What do you absolutely need to start your sewing journey?
The following are must haves to start your sewing journey.
Sewing machine - Obviously (It’s okay to start with a budget machine. You only really need 3 stitches-straight, zig-zag, buttonhole)

Sewing needles - be sure to have the correct type and weight for the fabric (if in doubt go with a universal 80/12)
Fabric shears - more than mere scissors, sharp blades made for fabric are a must (Fiskars, Gingher are go to brands)
Seam ripper - the tool you hate to love
Measuring Tape - needed to take accurate body measurements
Fabric markers - chalk or heat sensitive markers are needed to transfer markings
Pins or clips - holds the fabric together before sewing
Pattern weights or pins - or anything heavy to weigh down your pattern pieces on your fabric
